Scientists at the University of Ghana have successfully sequenced genomes of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for the global COVID-19 pandemic. A news release by the university said the scientists were able to obtain important information about the genetic composition of viral strains in 15 of the confirmed cases in Ghana. Libya’s UN-backed government says it has suspended activity at one of the main hospitals in the capital, Tripoli, which has been repeatedly targeted in bombardments. The Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) says it would review security arrangements to enable it enforce protocols after President Akufo-Addo announced a week extension of the partial lockdown in Accra and Greater Kumasi.
