Malawi has reported its first three confirmed cases of coronavirus. The southern African nation was among the few countries on the continent yet to report a case. The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) has donated 100,000 to the Covid – 19 National Trust Fund to support people whose lives have been negatively impacted by the global pandemic. The gesture forms part of the church’s corporate social responsibility and commitment to help influence society through Christ. Mass testing for coronavirus has begun in five communities in Kumasi which health officials have identified as the hotspots for the deadly virus in the city. Of the 204 confirmed covid-19 cases and five deaths recorded across the country as at Thursday, Kumasi accounts for nine of them, making it the third city with the highest cases after Accra and Tamale. Several residents in Tema West say they would not allow a building in the neighbourhood to be used as an isolation centre for persons infected with the novel coronavirus (Covid-19). The number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits has hit a record high for the second week in a row as the economic toll tied to the coronavirus intensifies. Ghana has confirmed nine additional Covid-19 cases, bringing the country’s total to 204. They are all from the Greater Accra region, the Ghana Health Service has confirmed.
