Three persons, a mother and her two sons have been quarantined in Bongo in the Upper East Region on suspicion that they might be infected with the coronavirus after one showed symptoms of the disease. The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has come up with mitigating measures to safeguard the health and well-being of vulnerable groups in the country, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions on the movement of people in some areas. As part of the measures, head porters, popularly known as ‘Kayayei’, will be provided free accommodation and given three square meals a day within the period of the restriction measures. An Indian working for a private company at Kpong in the Lower Manya Krobo municipality in the Eastern region has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Gunmen have shot dead a sub chief at Saka in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region and injured one of his sons in a bizarre circumstance. The three gunmen shot the chief, Salifu Mustapha, in the head twice, killing him instantly.
