The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) says it has spent GH¢1 million creating awareness and educating the public on the upcoming December 17 district-level elections as well as the aborted referendum. Managing Director of Unilever Ghana Limited, Mrs Gladys Amoah, has resigned her position from the consumer goods company. A non-executive Director of the Company, Mr Yaw Nsarkoh, has also resigned his post, a statement issued by the company on December 4 announced. In effect, the two have also resigned from the board of Unilever Ghana Limited. Some women farmers within the ECOWAS sub region have decried the non-prioritization and low investments in the agriculture sector despite its potential to end poverty and malnutrition. Although the 2014 Malabo Declaration calls for at least 10 per cent of national budget allocation to the agriculture sector, not many ECOWAS countries have adhere to this commitment. Countries like Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Senegal have been singled out to have made significant strides in complying with the commitment. The National Identification Authority (NIA) is targeting to register 2.8 million Ghanaian residents in Ashanti Region for the Ghana Card. It will from December 11 deploy 15,000 staff to man 833 centres to be created for the registration exercise which will run until to January 8, 2020 Executive Secretary of the NIA, Prof Ken Agyemang Attafuah announced this at a press briefing at Ejisu ahead of the exercise.
