Parliament has summoned two ministers to appear before the House not later than December 10 to brief members of parliament on what is accounting for delays in signing off-taker agreements with waste management companies in the country. The Electoral Commission has set up a 21-member eminent advisory committee ahead of the December 2020 general elections. Members of the committee are expected to enhance engagement and interactions between the Commission and the Ghanaian society, and it is geared towards ensuring a free, fair and credible presidential and parliamentary elections. Celebrated Ghanaian economist and business consultant Kwame Pianim has expressed sadness over the decision by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to call off the December 17 referendum. The National Identification Authority (NIA) is targeting to register 2.8 million Ghanaian residents in Ashanti Region for the Ghana Card. It will from December 11 deploy 15,000 staff to man 833 centres to be created for the registration exercise which will run until to January 8, 2020 Executive Secretary of the NIA, Prof Ken Agyemang Attafuah announced this at a press briefing at Ejisu ahead of the exercise. The National Communications Authority (NCA) has ordered Scancom PLC, operators of MTN Ghana, to among others compensate customers affected by the recent network challenges. Customers of the telecommunications giant have recently complained about billing inaccuracies as regards purchased data. Some 150 students of the Accra High School have been rushed to the Adabraka Polyclinic after eating meals served them at school. Information available to 3news.com indicates the students complained of stomach upset after taking the meals and were subsequently rushed to the hospital Monday dawn. They are all suspected to be suffering from food poisoning and diarrhoea. The students are mostly final year students staying in a private hostel run by the school.
