The 10 per cent of the $1 million arbitration money paid to Davies & Davies Law has been returned to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the country’s football-governing body has confirmed. Universal Plastic Products and Recycling (UPPR) Ghana Limited in collaboration with Ecobank Ghana Limited and the Environment Service Providers Association has launched a ‘1 million waste bin’ project. The project is aimed at helping reduce indiscriminate disposal of waste in the country. Waste bins under the project have been fitted with radio frequency identity tags to enable waste management companies to closely monitor and to record how often the bins get emptied. Some 150 students of the Accra High School have been rushed to the Adabraka Polyclinic after eating meals served them at school. Information available to 3news.com indicates the students complained of stomach upset after taking the meals and were subsequently rushed to the hospital Monday dawn. They are all suspected to be suffering from food poisoning and diarrhoea. The students are mostly final year students staying in a private hostel run by the school. Teacher absenteeism, according to him, was hovering around 30 per cent resulting in 45 per cent of SHS candidates failing in Mathematics. The Minister for Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has disclosed that government, under its Ghana Accountability and Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP), seeks to improve the quality of low performing basic education schools and strengthen education sector equity and accountability in Ghana. Students of the University for Development (UDS), Navrongo Campus are threatening to demonstrate if management of the school fail to pay monies owed the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO) to have power restored on campus. NEDCO has disconnected the Navrongo campus of the UDS from its distribution network over arrears owed by the school since 2012.
