A law has been passed in Sudan dissolving the party of ousted former president Omar al-Bashir. Mr Bashir seized power in a 1989 coup and ruled for almost three decades, until he was overthrown by a protest movement in April. The country’s transitional authorities also repealed a public order law that was used to police women’s behaviour. Both measures responded to key demands of the protest movement, which aims to dismantle Mr Bashir’s regime. The Coalition of Concerned Teachers, Ghana (CCT-Gh) has given government up till Thursday, December 5 to complete payment of salary arrears. According to a statement issued by the Coalition on Friday, November 29, payment of the arrears will “avoid an industrial unrest at the education front”. Inspire to Rise partnered has partnered a Ghanaian-German ICT organization, Grow Ghana, to organise ICT workshops at Nungua St. Peters Anglican 1 & 2 JHS School as well as Kanda Estate 1 Basic JHS School. Chairman of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) Dr Steve Manteaw says government must put measures in place to check illicit financial flows in the extractive sector. According to a report by the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP), Ghana on the average loses $1.4 billion annually in the natural resources sector to illicit financial flows. The report indicated that from 2002 to 2018, cumulative gross illicit flows from trade mis-invoicing in the country amounted to $20 billion.
