The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has eulogized the late former Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei.
According to the Speaker Dr. Akoto was an effective legislator who had the respect of all.
Before commencing proceedings for Tuesday, March 3, 2023, Alban Bagbin noted that he was saddened by news of the demise of the former Old Tafo MP.
Dr. Akoto Osei’s death was announced by the Parliament of Ghana on its verified Facebook handle on Monday, March 20, 2023.
He was 69 years.
Speaker Bagbin went ahead to call for the observation of a minute of silence for the soul of the late legislator.
“Dr Akoto Osei was a very illustrious member, very effective, very well respected, a very true gentleman,” the Speaker said.
He added that Dr Anthony Akoto Osei was also appointed a Deputy Minister for Finance and Economic Planning among other positions he held in his lifetime.
Mr. Bagbin was particularly touched that Dr. Akoto excelled in and delivered in his mandate not just as a legislator but in all positions he occupied.
The Speaker also expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and to the nation.
