The 15th graduation ceremony of BlueCrest University College has taken place in Accra with a total of 209 students awarded certificates in various degree and diploma programmes.
The ceremony, which was attended by various dignitaries including Members of Parliament, Members of the Diplomatic Community, Academic Heads of Universities and guardians of graduands, was on the theme ‘Excellence through LITE (Leadership, Innovation, Technology and Excellence) approach.
Speaking at the event, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Professor Danny Dampson, who spoke on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, noted that building a progressive nation requires a dedicated labour force that is ready to sacrifice to bring about the transformation that will improve the lives of all.
He said the education that students acquire is not just to prepare them to become finished products but to contribute positively to society.
Professor Dampson further admonished the students to be good leaders whose work will be emulated by many and most especially generations after them.
“I encourage you all and remind you that as leaders you are individuals who should affect the thoughts, feelings and behaviours of a significant number of individuals and should, as strategic leaders, chart a path that society will follow,” he stated.
Building Human Capacity
Addressing the graduands on the need to build on foundation they have acquired during their period of studies, the Rector of the BlueCrest University College, Dr. Anand Agrawal, noted that the leadership, innovation, technology and entrepreneurial approach to teaching at the university was carefully chosen to build the human capacity of students to respond to the demands of industry and a fast changing world.
“We at The BlueCrest College have committed to implement the approach of LITE…LITE, leadership, innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship. Our programs, our courses, our way of teaching, and our every action as an academic institution reflects these four pillars of the foundation of the College,” he remarked.
He added: “We all are sure that our graduates who will be now our alumni will be great leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs who will not only use the technology, but also will develop and create new technologies or support and promote the wise use of technology for the betterment of the society, their profession, and their lives.”
Graduating Students
The graduating students comprises 92 students from the School of Technology, 71 students from School of Business and Communication and 46 students from School of Fashion and Design.
