The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has condemned the behaviour of some players and officials during Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final.
During the clash between Senegal and Morocco, a penalty awarded the hosts led to a boycott by Senegalese players and officials.
The penalty was called by the referee a few minutes after a Senegal goal was disallowed.
They later returned, however, to complete the game, which they won by 1-0.
In a statement issued on Monday, January 19, CAF described the behaviour as “unacceptable” and “inappropriate”.
“CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour which occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organizers,” it said.
It added: “CAF is reviewing all footage and will refer the matter to competent bodies for appropriate action to be taken against those found guilty.”
