Accra Hearts of Oak coach Edwin Nii Odum is optimistic his side will secure a win when they clash with Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, Edwin Nii Odum said after his team drew to WAFA, his players began to understand his style of play hence the determination they have acquired to win matches.
“Since the Sogakope match, things have changed a bit. They are playing what I’ve told them to play and we are going the same way and we are not stepping back.”
Hearts of Oak came from one goal down to beat Liberty Professionals away last Sunday proving the coach’s point that his men are ready for a win.
He added, however, that his players are prone to errors.
“As for indiscipline, you can say that tactical indiscipline might come in. But in the whole world, no player plays 90 minutes without making a mistake. By all means there will be one or two mistakes but that does not mean my boys are not disciplined.”
Getting ready for his side’s meeting with their archrivals on Sunday, he promised the fans a win.
“The fans came to Sogakope in their numbers and last Sunday was marvelous and I think that is pushing the team and all of us. So the only thing the players and I want is to give the supporters a win and nothing else.”
Since 1958, the two teams have played 106 times with Hearts of Oak winning 35 times and Kotoko winning 33 times. They shared the points on 38 occasions.
Accra Hearts of Oak will be playing at home at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Since 1958, including the 1-0 win at Cape Coast in 2006, the rivals have met at the Accra Sports Stadium 55 times with the two claiming victory 16 times each.
This match will decide who will have the upper hand in terms of wins at the Accra Sports Stadium.
