The Minister of Interior has lifted the curfew imposed on Nalerigu and it’s environs with immediate effect.
This follows advice from the North East Regional Security Council.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 16, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak indicated that the decision was taken following peace and security in the area.
He urged chiefs, opinion leaders, youth and people of Nalerigu “to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area”.
Ethnic clashes in the area left government with no decision than to impose a curfew on the town.
