The family of late Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has issued a strong statement rejecting what it describes as false and malicious claims circulating on social media about alleged divisions within the family.
In a press release dated Jan. 20, 2026, the children of Daddy Lumba and his widow, Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh, said reports suggesting conflict between them and their mother, including claims that she could be “arrested” for speaking or writing on their behalf, were “entirely false, baseless and deeply offensive”.
The statement, signed by a family press secretary on behalf of the Fosuh family, emphasised that relations between the children and their mother remain strong and united. “We speak with her every morning and every evening,” the family said, describing their bond as one of trust, affection and mutual respect.
The family also condemned allegations directed at businessman Kenpong, who has been accused in online commentary of harbouring ulterior motives for offering support to Mrs. Fosuh and her children. The family described those claims as reckless and unfair, noting that assistance given during a difficult period should not be misrepresented.
“Our loyalty is, and will always remain, with our mother,” the statement said, adding that any suggestion of internal conflict was a deliberate falsehood designed to generate attention and social media engagement.
The children said the spread of misinformation was not only harmful to their family but also damaging to the legacy of their late father, who died in 2021. Daddy Lumba is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most influential musicians, credited with producing some of the country’s most celebrated highlife songs over a career spanning several decades.
“Our late father did no harm to Ghana,” the statement said. “On the contrary, he gave the nation some of its finest highlife music and contributed immensely to Ghana’s cultural heritage.”
The family urged the public to disregard the rumours and refrain from amplifying what it described as divisive narratives, reiterating that the Fosuh family remains united and firmly supportive of Mrs. Fosuh.
