GFA introduces measures to cure penalty woes

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has introduced penalty kicks in the premier league with the aim of bringing an end to the poor penalty records of the national teams. Ghana in numerous competitions has been kicked out through penalty kicks which explain how poor we are when it comes to penalty kicks. Statistics gathered show Ghana has converted just 65% of all penalty kicks we have been involved in. The Black Stars painful exit in the 2010 World Cup was as a result of losing to Uruguay through penalty kicks. Recently the Black Meteors lost to Ivory Coast and South Africa in the semi finals and the third place play off respectively all through penalties. It is as a result of this the GFA has decided to introduce penalty kicks in our league which commences next month. The GFA Executive Committee has agreed with clubs across all the leagues to adopt penalty kicks in the leagues to award points in case of drawn games. The GFA is hopeful this will help address the abysmal performance of the national teams when it comes to penalty kicks.
