The Ghana National Gas Company Limited and Quantum Terminals Plc have presented a nursery school block and two teacher quarters valued at GH¢2.5 million to the Anokyi and Asemda communities in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

The two communities are in the operational area of the two companies.

The four-unit two-bedroom self-contained teachers’ quarters valued at GH¢750,000 each is located at Asemda and Anokyi.

The two teachers’ bungalow cost a total of GH¢1.5m

The ultra-modern nursery, on the other hand, cost GH¢750,000 with an extra cost of GH¢200, 000 for teaching and learning logistics and is located at Asemda.

The Human Resource Manager of Quantum Terminals Plc, Anastasia Antoinette Abban, said “it has been the heartfelt desire of Quantum Terminals Plc and Ghana Gas to as much as possible put in the necessary measures to make education in Atuabo be of the best quality and accessible to all”.

“Our company, Quantum Terminals Plc is dedicated to the cause of enhancing education as it’s the only tool to have a succession for our labour today and the maintenance of our legacy. Therefore, we uphold and commit to sustaining the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative in achieving quality education through the provision of infrastructure and other necessary resources.”

She said it is the firm belief that the future belongs to those who prepare for it today and therefore by providing quality education to the young ones a guaranteed future is assured for them.

“We shall continue to work with Ghana Gas on this initiative relentlessly to make sure quality education becomes the hallmark of Anokyi. There have been significant achievements over the years with the educational CSR projects and we look forward to sustaining and improve on the standard.”

The General Manager of Technical Services at Ghana Gas, Robert Asmah, explained that the two companies provided the facilities following a needs assessment in the two communities which started in 2016.

“Ghana Gas’ core CSR policy is to give back to the community, especially those within our catchment area. And so, a percentage of our annual profit is set aside for CSR projects to improve the living standards of the project affected communities and the nation at large,” he said.

Mr. Asmah said the projects are aimed at addressing some of the educational challenges within the two beneficiary communities and to augment the educational infrastructure base in the Ellembelle district.

Traditional leaders in the two communities applauded the two companies for choosing to continuously support the educational needs of their communities and called on other companies to take on other needs.
