Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations participated in the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) 2025, which happened in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The two-week conference, organized by the International Telecommunication Union, convenes governments, industry leaders and global policymakers to advance digital connectivity and shape strategies for an inclusive digital future.
Held every four years, the WTDC is the ITU’s flagship development conference under the ITU-D sector. The 2025 edition is themed “Universal, meaningful, and affordable connectivity for an inclusive and sustainable digital future,” with discussions focused on capacity building, digital inclusion, cybersecurity, climate resilience and innovation.
Officials said Ghana’s participation is critical to strengthening the country’s digital transformation agenda. The conference offered a platform for Ghana to showcase its progress in areas such as digital governance, broadband expansion and skills development while learning from global best practices.
The meetings also provided opportunities for Ghana to access technical expertise, explore emerging technologies and pursue partnerships that can support national priorities, including expanding connectivity and improving digital resilience.
Delegates are expected to engage in policy negotiations and contribute to global standards that shape telecommunication development.
The Ministry’s presence in Baku underscores Ghana’s commitment to leveraging digital technologies to drive economic growth, strengthen institutions and improve quality of life, positioning the country as an emerging player in the global digital economy.
