The highest decision-making body of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has adopted court rulings to expand the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League to 18 clubs.
The separate cases challenged the relegation of King Faisal Babes and Great Olympics from the country’s top-flight league.
But to staunch such legal tussles, Congress decided on Friday, October 25 ahead of voting for a new president for the Association to include the two clubs.
The League will revert to 16 clubs after the season.
As a result, five clubs instead of three will be relegated from the 2019/20 League.
Sporting Mirren will also remain in the Division One by the decision taken by Congress.
There was also decision to abrogate the 2017/18 League, which was truncated as a result of the investigative piece released by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The adoption of new statutes leading to the reconstitution of the Executive Council of the Association stems from Anas’s exposé titled ‘Number 12: When Greed and Corruption Become the Norm’.
