The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry has announced a move to engage authorities in Burkina Faso regarding the recent ban on the export of fresh tomatoes, which took effect on Tuesday, March 16.
In a press release, the Ministry stated it will work with relevant state institutions to address concerns surrounding the ban and seek a mutually beneficial solution for both countries.
The engagement aims to chart a way forward that balances trade interests and regional cooperation.
The Ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to boosting local tomato production under the ‘Feed Ghana’ and ‘Feed the Industry’ programmes, focusing on increasing domestic output to meet local demand.
The statement urges Ghanaian tomato traders to remain calm while efforts are underway to secure an amicable resolution to the export dispute.
