The leadership of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) has announced intentions to commence engagement with the Ministry of Transport over public transport fares.
According to the two transport unions, a requested has been submitted to the Ministry “for a review of public transport fares”.
The Road Trasport Operators claim the gesture is in line with Administrative Instrument in the review of public transport fares.
“This process forms part of the established consultative framework for determining and reviewing public transport fares, taking into account various inputs that go into the operations of commercial road transport services,” a statement jointly signed by GPRTU General Secretary Godfred Abulbire and GRTCC General Secretary Emmanuel Ohene Yeboah said.
It assured that the outcome of all discussions will be “communicated in due course”.
“We, therefore, urge all drivers, station masters, transport owners, and the general public to remain calm and await the outcome of the process.”
