The embattled Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral of Ghana, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng has welcomed any investigation by state’s anti-graft agency, CHRAJ, into an alleged scandal on GHC 2.6 million, among others.
The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) was petitioned by the MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on January 16 to investigate Rev. Kusi Boateng on a number of allegations.
According to the MP, Rev. Kusi Boateng was paid GHc2.6 million under the guise of JNS Talent Centre Limited by the National Cathedral Secretariat for no work done, which also raises an issue of conflict of interest. But this has vehemently been denied by the Secretariat.
He is also accused of having double identities as he sometimes go by the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, with the legislator reading criminal intent into that.
But Rev. Kusi Boateng said claims by Mr. Ablakwa are defamatory, indicating his readiness to present his side of the story to CHRAJ.
“I wish to assure the general public that the statements made by Mr. Ablakwa are a twisted narration of events to pursue a malicious political agenda. There has never been any criminal intent nor any crime committed in my dealings with the Government of Ghana or the National Cathedral.”
When all is said and done, Rev. Kusi Boateng hopes to “seek redress against Mr. Ablakwa for his deliberate defamatory statements” against him.
