Dorcas Affo-Toffey, Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency, has redeemed her promise to residents in and around towns such as Tweako 1, Tweako 2, Bentilbo, Kwaw-Grumah, and Navrongo in the Jomoro District of the Western Region to repair and reshape their deplorable roads.
The poor nature of the 17-kilometer road network has been a great source of worry to cocoa farmers, pregnant women, and sick people in these communities.
Due to the nature of the road, students had to trek on foot to and from school, and farm produce were stuck in the bushes because the okada, pragia (tricycle), and vehicles that were supposed to transport them refused to ply there.
According to the residents, for instance, they had to carry expectant mothers and walk long distance to seek healthcare at a nearby health centre because no vehicle could ply the road, but thanks to the MP, the road is now motorable for them.
They complained bitterly that the former MP, Paul Essien, although promised to construct the road for them while campaigning, they were ignored after after they voted for him. They acknowledged that despite the fact that Madam Affo-Toffey’s government is not in power, she has been able to restore their roads into good share.
According to them, for that and many other laudable gestures, nothing will stop them from campaigning and voting for her to continue her stewardship.
The residents believe that political parties do not belong to individuals and are not individual property, so they will vote for whoever will help them, which is exactly what they will do for Madam Affo-Toffey in the 2024 elections.
When asked what she would do to have the road completely tarred, Madam Affo-Toffey noted that such roads are beyond her capacity as an MP, but she will channel it through the Roads Ministry to see what can be done.
She explained that she has already begun discussions with the sector Minister about some of the deplorable roads in her constituency, assuring that the newly graded roads would be added to it.
