Ghana’s coronavirus recovery rate seems to have upped over the last few days.
After 786 patients recovered on Friday, almost 300 more have recovered from the virus.
Precisely, 294 is the latest number of recovered patients, according to the update released by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on Saturday.
Ninety-seven have also tested positive for the virus, bringing the country’s cumulative cases to 5,735.
One more has been counted as dead, therefore bringing to 29 the total number of fatalities.
The latest figures have significantly reduced Ghana’s active cases from 4,150 to 3,952. These cases are being managed at treatment centres across the country.
Regional breakdown
The latest cases are said to be largely from the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions.
Those two regions lead the regional breakdown with the Greater Accra Region’s numbers topping 4,000.
Ashanti Region’s is inching towards the 1,000-mark. It is now at 818.
Obuasi, Asokwa, Oforikrom and Kumasi are said to be the epicentres of the virus in the Region.
Tema, Accra, Ayawaso North and Ablekuma Central are Greater Accra Region’s epicentres.
Following these two regions is Central Region, which has so far recorded 210 cases.
Eastern Region seems to be managing its surveillance so well as it is still at 99 cases.
It has just one more case higher than the Western Region.
The Western North Region has so far recorded 57 cases, followed by the Volta Region with 34 cases and the Northern Region with 31 cases.
The Upper East Region has so far recorded 26 cases, the Oti Region 24, Upper West Region 21 and North-East Region 2.
The Bono Region has not gone beyond the one it recorded on Wednesday, May 6.
The Savannah, Ahafo and Bono East regions have since not recorded any cases.
