The Minority in Parliament did not take kindly at all Speaker Professor Mike Oquaye’s reaction on Monday, March 23 when Chief Whip Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak was making an intervention on the floor of the House.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase Constituency observed that the House did not form a quorum to consider an amendment to the Corporate Insolvency Bill.
But while drawing the attention of the Speaker, our reporter Komal Klutse said, the Right Honourable Speaker ignored his intervention.
The Minority Chief Whip appeared to have taken offence and led members of his caucus out of the House.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament told journalists that he was unaware of a letter said to have been written to him by the Minority.
According to him, the Minority Leader has been present at almost all meetings of leadership regarding the resolve of the House to help in the fight against coronavirus.
The letter is said to have been written by the Minority to pledge their support in any action taken by Parliament in government’s resolve to combat the spread of Covid-19.
