The Anglican Diocese of Sekondi under the Chairmanship of His Lordship Rt. Reverend Alexander Kobina Asmah has organized its second session of the 5th Diocesan synod under the theme ‘Repositioning for Church Growth and Advancement in Pluralistic and Challenging Time of Ours’.
Speaking on the theme, the Diocesan Bishop enkindled Christians especially Anglicans to reflect on th sequential, historical, theological and entrepreneurial insights that had been recounted over the years of the Anglican presence in Ghana.
He urged all to hope in prayer and make adventure as they walk together and become apologists to Christian beliefs, bearing in mind the full gain of inheritance with Christ.
“I ask members of the Synod to reach out and keep projecting for a better future with good aspirations, uniqueness and adroitness of the venture of repositioning to win the combat to foster growth through dynamism,” Bishop Alexander Kobina Asmah stated.
He also enumerated the need for the diocese to have a sustainable growth spiritually.
“There is the need for a very sustainable growth in the spiritual, evangelism and church planting in the short term for the Diocese and also the need for the Bible studies to help us describe evangelism as a ministry of hospitality as emphasized for us to trace our tale of Anglicanism from our principle of faith that is scripture, tradition reason and experience.”
The purpose of the Synod is usually to convene to decide on issues of doctrine and administration of the church.
The church currently has about 60 listed churches and about 48 Priests and Deacons.
Since 2017, 10 Ordinands six priests and four deacons have been ordained into the Sacerdoce. The Anglican Diocese of Sekondi currently has 50 clergy – all males – and 63 parishes.
The programme saw in attendance delegates of the House of Clergy and Laity, traditional authorities, heads of religious bodies, heads of security agencies and parishioners.
