The Sekondi High Court 2 presided over by Justice Hannah Taylor has remanded the alleged mastermind of the Takoradi kidnappings, John Oji, into prison custody.
John Oji, 29, has been identified as a Nigerian.
Adelaide Kobire Woode, who led a team from the Attorney General’s Department, told the court that John Oji’s name has been mentioned in connection with the alleged kidnapping of three girls of Takoradi.
She mentioned his offence as conspiracy to kidnap and kidnapping.
She pleaded with the court to remand John Oji into police custody.
Justice Hannah Taylor proceeded to remand John Oji into prison custody for him to reappear on Wednesday, June 26.
A source at the court told 3news.com that the state attorney asked for the remand to enable them gather enough information to aid them proceed since as it stands there is no information for them to act on.
The suspect appeared in court in a brown jungle hat, an ash pullover with black jeans and black trainers to match.
In the court room, he had his back facing the gallery making it difficult for members of the public to see his face.
He was quickly whisked away in a Ford pick-up by a team of gun-wielding police officers after the hearing that lasted for 20 minutes.
Just like Samuel Wills, sources say, John Oji has been taken to Accra and will be coming from there any time there is a court hearing.
It will be recalled John Oji was mentioned by Samuel Wills as the person who can show where the girls are.
Samuel Wills gave the account while he was in police custody at the Takoradi Central Police Station.
The police at that time were able to establish contact with John Oji.
Strangely, Samuel Wills escaped police custody the day John Oji came to Ghana ostensibly to help retrieve the three kidnapped girls.
John Oji was reported to have been arrested in Togo on Monday, June 10, 2019.
