Thirty-two members of staff at the Tamale Teaching Hospital have tested positive for Covid-19.
The number comprised 19 doctors, 12 nurses and one orderly.
The Director of Medical Affairs at the Hospital, Dr. Abass Adam, confirmed this to journalists on Wednesday, July 8.
He said some of them have been treated and discharged while others were still on admission.
One person is also in a critical condition.
Asked if the other staff who came into contact with their colleagues who have tested positive have been quarantined, Dr Abass answered: “All 80 staff who came into contact with their colleagues who unfortunately tested positive for Covid-19 had their results being negative.”
Northern Region has recorded 163 cases of the Covid-19 pandemic from the outbreak of the disease till Sunday, July 5.
Out of this number, 120 representing 73.6 percent have recovered or been discharged with 39 active cases.
The Tamale Teaching Hospital serves as a referral and isolation center in the region.
