Seven persons have been picked up by the Suame Police in connection with the alleged murder of two women at a thicket near a hotel at Abrepo in Kumasi last Thursday.
Police say a lot more suspects will be arrested to assist in the ongoing investigations into the case that shocked residents of the area due to the bizarre circumstance under which the bodies of the two were found.
Suame District Police Commander, Superintendent Twum Barima, confirmed the arrest of seven to TV3 correspondent Beatrice Spio Garbrah Friday.
But the arrest has angered some young men in the area who are claiming their friends are innocent, our correspondent reported.
The discovery
Bodies of the two women believed to be 25 and 30 years, were discovered Thursday in different positions near Samad Hotel with used condoms around the scene and unused ones in their bags.

One of them, whose pant was removed to the knee level, was found in what is popularly referred to as “doggy position” with her stomach and face lying flat on the ground.
The other lady had her ‘stretch’ trousers stripped to the thigh region, exposing her beads. She had no panties on.
While some residents suspect the two were prostitutes, others were of the view they were sexually assaulted and murdered.
Their bodies were removed from the scene by the Suame Police and deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy to be conducted on them.
Fear grip residents
Residents in the area who spoke to TV3 on Friday said they now live in fear following the alleged homicide incident, and have asked for improved security in the vicinity.
Meanwhile, residents are planning to establish a community watchdog committee to help improve their security.
Assembly member for Kokoso, Francis Amoako, acknowledged the sense of insecurity in the community.
“The community belongs to them; the first security is them, the policeman will be here, he will spend less than 10, 15 minutes, the car will go. I’ve asked them that wheatever they can do to protect the community, I’m 100 per cent in support” he told our correspondent.
He said they were also waiting for the autopsy report on the deceased.
