The Northern Regional Police command has arrested 11 ladies, allegedly involved in prostitution.
The suspects were arrested at various joints they operate within the Tamale metropolis.
They were arrested between 12 midnight and 3:00 am on September 8.
A man who was also in possession of locally manufactured pistol was also arrested at a drinking bar.
Northern Regional Crime Officer, Supt. Otuo Acheampong, told 3news.com the command supported by the counter terrorism unit of the Ghana Police Service embarked on the operation to clamp down on lawlessness and impunity in the metropolis.
“The process led to the arrest of 11 female suspects and one male believed to be engaged, trading and soliciting for prostitution”.
He add that if it is established, in the course of the investigations, that the suspects believed to be Nigerians do not have the necessary documents permitting them to stay in Ghana, they would be handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
“The police in the region are going to wage relentless war on people who engage in lawlessness and impunity,” Supt. Otuo Acheampong said.
The crime officer sent a warning to criminals in the region to desist from their activities, adding that anybody arrested will be dealt with severely by the law.
