Mother, 59, killed by taxi on her way to visit sick husband

Shock and anguish have gripped residents of Sekondi-Takoradi after news of a 59 year old woman who was killed on her way to visit her sick husband at the hospital got to them. The deceased, Comfort Arthur had prepared some meal on Monday dawn, May 13, 2019 and was on her way to the Kwesimintsim Hospital to visit her husband who was on admission. According to eye witnesses, Auntie Connie, as she was affectionately called, was crossing a section of the road at Anaji on the new Kansaworado highway around 5:30am when she was knocked down by the speeding Taxi car. “The driver was over speeding from Ntankoful heading towards Anaji but because of the speed he couldn’t apply the brakes,” an eyewitness recounted. She was referred to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital after initially being rushed to the Jemimah Hospital but was pronounced dead soon on arrival. When the sad news got to the Takoradi market where the deceased was trading, colleague traders who described Auntie Connie as a very calm person couldn’t control their tears as they broke down into weeping and wailing.
