The elections to find a new president for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is heading to the second round after all six candidates failed to secure a 50 per cent plus one vote.
Chief Executive Officer of Dreams FC Kurt Okraku, however, emerged winner of the first round with 44 votes.
He was closely followed by a former Vice President of the Association, George Afriyie, who polled 40 votes.
Phar Ranges FC owner Nana Yaw Amponsah polled 27 votes, much more than a former GFA Vice President Frederick Pappoe to the surprise of all gathered at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons in Accra.
Mr Pappoe’s six votes, despite qualifying him for the second round, saw him announce his withdrawal from the race.
Amanda Clinton and George Ankomah Mensah had no votes and so became the two candidates to forfeit any chance to be head of Ghana’s football governing body.
The second round will, therefore, be contested by Kurt Okraku, George Afriyie and Nana Yaw Amponsah.
