Unilever Ghana has appointed George Owusu-Ansah as its new managing director following the resignation of Mrs Gladys Amoah from the consumer goods company.
A non-executive Director of the company, Mr Yaw Nsarkoh, who resigned his post, effective November 30, will now take up a new role in the UK as Unilever’s Executive Vice President Market Projects.

Mr Owusu-Ansah’s appointment takes effect from January 1, 2020, a statement from the Unilever Ghana announced Tuesday.
The man, who has extensive experience in consumer goods over a career spanning nearly 30 years with Unilever, will also join the Board of Unilever Ghana as an executive director.
He is currently the Supply Chain Director for Logistics and Customer Service at Unilever Nigeria.
He joined Unilever Ghana as a management trainee in 1990 and has since worked across Ghana, Malawi, China, Singapore, Kenya and Nigeria.
“It is an honour to be asked to return home and lead a business like Unilever Ghana which has such a strong heritage and amazing portfolio of brands,” Mr Owusu-Ansah said
“I’m very excited by the prospect of working with the team to build an even better purpose-led business that gives Ghanaian consumers affordable and high quality products while helping build a better society for us all”.
Mr Owusu-Ansah has broad experience in planning, sourcing and customer service excellence in supply chain and his customer development experience, including trade marketing for foods, home and personal care.
“Unilever Ghana welcomes Mr Owusu-Ansah to his role” the statement said.
The statement said with strong fundamentals in place as well as a long-term commitment to Ghana based on sustainability and brands with purpose, the company is well positioned for future growth under Mr Owusu’s leadership.
Meanwhile, the Unilever Ghana has thanked Mr Nsarkoh “for his invaluable contributions” to the company over the years and “wishes him all the best in his new role within the Unilever group”.
