The police Inspector suspected to have murdered his girlfriend in cold blood at the Ashanti Regional capital of Kumasi has been arrested.
Ghana Police Service announced his arrest in a tweet on Sunday evening.
The said Inspector is currently in police custody.
“The Police have this evening [April 23, 2023] arrested a Police officer, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, who is alleged to have shot and killed a female adult, who was believed to be his girlfriend,” the series of tweets read in part.
The shooting incident occurred at Adum in Kumasi on Thursday, 20th April 2023 in the evening.
The deceased is a 26-year-old lady called Victoria Dapaah.
According to eyewitnesses, she was heard begging the young police Inspector popularly known as Takum not to kill her and that she has not cheated on him.
According to the police, the suspect, who has been on the run since the incident, was arrested at Sekyere, near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region.
His arrest was “as a result of a special Police operation, which was launched following the shooting incident.
“The suspect is currently in Police custody and will be put before court to face justice.”
