As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) officially opens nominations for the selection of its presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections, a pro-Bawumia group, Young Lawyers for Bawumia (YLB), has issued a passionate call for unity and decorum within the party.

In a press release signed by Coordinator Chris Arthur Esq. and Member Ernest Opoku Nti Esq., the group congratulated all party members and stakeholders both in Ghana and abroad on reaching what it described as “an important milestone in the democratic calendar” of the NPP.

The lawyers emphasized the party’s tradition of upholding democracy, unity, and progress, urging aspirants and their supporters to conduct themselves with respect and a sense of collective purpose throughout the campaign period.

“We remind all aspirants, their supporters, and sympathizers that the strength of NPP lies not only in our capacity to present competent presidential candidates, but in our ability to maintain a cohesive, united front in the face of competitive internal processes,” the statement noted.

The group particularly highlighted the legacy and achievements of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as the embodiment of the party’s values and vision. They pointed to his contributions to Ghana’s digital transformation, financial inclusion initiatives like Mobile Money Interoperability, and his leadership during economic crises as evidence of his capacity for transformative leadership.

“Dr. Bawumia’s record speaks for itself. His focus on pragmatism, economic stability, and technological advancement aligns with the NPP’s vision to build a prosperous Ghana for all. He does not seek division or discord, but consensus, and teamwork,” the statement read.

YLB called on all NPP faithful to remain guided by the party’s core mandate—national development underpinned by rule of law, tolerance, and unity. They urged supporters to avoid inflammatory language or actions that could damage party cohesion and instead embrace the diversity of ideas within the NPP.

“As nominations open, may we prove to ourselves and Ghanaians at large that the NPP is not just a party, but a model of democracy at work,” they said, concluding with a rallying call for support, cooperation, and unwavering commitment to the values that have distinguished the NPP over the years.

The group expressed confidence that with visionary and principled leadership, the party would not only emerge victorious in the internal contest but also secure national victory for the benefit of all Ghanaians.

NPP officially opened nominations for its highly anticipated presidential primary on July 29 with nomination forms pegged at GH₵100,000 and the final filing fee set at GH₵500,000.
