The Government of Ghana has condoled with the family of Javits Badu Nkansah Frimpong, a 15-year-old Ghanaian teenager who was fatally shot in the Bronx, New York, in the United States.
According to a press statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued in Accra on Friday, October 30, Javits was shot at about 9:20 am on Thursday, October 29, 2026, by yet-to-be-identified assailants while on his way to school.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, spoke directly with Javits’ father, Thomas Frimpong, on Friday morning and assured him of the full support of the Government of Ghana in the family’s pursuit of justice.
“We will pursue justice, and we will make sure that those who did this do not get away with it,” the Minister stated.
On behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, the Foreign Affairs Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
“We are all saddened. We are all distraught. He did not deserve this,” he said.
Officials from Ghana’s Permanent Mission in New York also visited Mr Frimpong at his home on Friday morning to commiserate with him and his family and convey the solidarity and support of Ghana.
While condemning the killing, the Government urged the relevant authorities in the Bronx to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The Ministry and the Permanent Mission in New York will actively pursue justice in collaboration with US authorities, and stand ready to provide appropriate legal and consular assistance.
The statement reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to the safety, dignity and well-being of its citizens everywhere, at any time and in all circumstances.
The Government extended its thoughts and prayers to the family, friends and loved ones of Javits in the USA and Ghana, especially his mother, Doris Adu Gyamfi, in Kumasi.
