President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Minister of Finance through the Executive Secretary at the Presidency to terminate all contracts related to Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) Ghana.
This follows the conclusion of investigations by the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP).
On Thursday, October 30, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng found six persons including former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta liable in several infractions related to SML.
Mr Agyebeng served notice that a total of Gh¢125 million will be retrieved from the cited persons.
Barely, 24 hours later, President Mahama instructs that all contracts by SML be terminated.
“Following the conclusion of the investigation conducted by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) into the contracts awarded to Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML), I have been directed by His Excellency, the President of the Republic, to request that you take immediate steps to terminate all existing SML-related contracts forthwith, ” Dr Callistus Mahama wrote to Dr Cassie Ato Baah Forson on Friday.
