President John Dramani Mahama has since reviewed his promise to build six new stadia for the newly-established regions of Ghana.
During the 2024 electioneering campaign, President Mahama promised each new region a new mini-stadium to boost sports participation.
Addressing the 32nd Ordinary Session of Congress of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Iddie Adams revealed that the President has since reviewed his promise, adding four more to the project.
“I dare tell you that His Excellency has since reviewed that decision and he is no more going to build the six mini-stadiums,” he stated.
“He is going to build 10,” he added, citing the Upper West, Upper East and Volta regions among the four newly added ones.
“These will have all other facilities in there including gyms for you to be able to utilise.”
He indicated as well that the Minister of Finance has already issued a commencement authorisation, which is currently being studied by officials.
