Ghana’s Super Clash is on today, Sunday, November 9 at the Accra Sports Stadium as Hearts of Oak welcome archrivals Asante Kotoko.
The crucial game in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League (GPL) comes at a time both sides remain the unbeaten clubs so far since the start of the season.
The Phobians have, however, played more games than their Matchday 5 opponents.
Hearts of Oak’s Head Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, a former Asante Kotoko coach, has won four and drawn four so far.
His opposite number, Abdul-Karim Zito, who was the U-20 coach at Kotoko while Didi Dramani was Head Coach, has managed three games less, having won three and drawn two – against Nations FC and Heart of Lions.
This makes Sunday’s clash a cliffhanger.
Asante Kotoko have been sharp in attack, scoring seven so far and conceding only two with Number 1 choice Mohamed Camera receiving a maiden call-up to the Syli Nationale within the week.
Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who kept clean sheets until he conceded two against leading scorer Samuel Atta Kumi of Bibiani Goldstars in their 2-2 draw at the same venue of the Super Clash, will be in post for the Phobians before travelling to Japan for Ghana’s friendly against the Samurai Blues on Friday.
A win for Hearts of Oak will see them go top of the league on goal difference while a win for Kotoko can only take them as far as sixth.
A draw is what most connoisseurs are predicting.
