Police have arrested a 30-year-old man after a shooting incident at a funeral in Obuasi left a traditional ruler injured, authorities said Sunday.
The Ashanti South Regional Police Command identified the suspect as Nana Yaw Dankwa, who was taken into custody on Saturday after officers on duty heard a gunshot and intervened. Police said he was quickly disarmed at the scene.
Officers retrieved an unregistered single-barrel gun loaded with ammunition from the suspect.
The victim, a traditional ruler from Adansi Dompoase, was treated for his injuries and later discharged, according to police.
Dankwa remains in custody and is expected to be arraigned as investigations continue, police said.
