The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has held a Technical Working Group meeting to review and refine the draft Child Online Protection (COP) Industry Guidelines, as part of efforts to strengthen safeguards for children in Ghana’s digital space.
The meeting brought together representatives from government agencies, industry players and UNICEF Ghana to provide technical input aimed at improving the practicality and effectiveness of the guidelines.
In opening remarks, Dr. Jamal Seidu Tonzua, Acting Deputy Director-General for Regulatory Operations at the CSA, emphasized the urgency of collaborative and actionable measures to address online risks facing children, noting the rapid expansion of digital platforms and services.

UNICEF Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ghana’s child online protection agenda, highlighting the importance of strong partnerships between regulators, industry and development partners. Ms. Tatiana Kotlyerano, a UNICEF consultant, presented the draft COP Industry Guidelines, which served as the basis for in-depth technical discussions during the session.
Participants reviewed key provisions, identified gaps and proposed refinements to ensure the guidelines are responsive to emerging digital threats. The meeting ended with agreement on next steps and a clear roadmap toward the finalization and implementation of the COP Industry Guidelines nationwide.
