Ghanaian musician Fancy Gadams has raised concerns over the valuation of creative work after receiving a royalty payment of GHS 123.62 from the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO).
Sharing a screenshot of the Mobile Money transaction on social media, Gadams commented, “GHS 123.82 – for creativity, sleepless nights, studio bills, promotions, and years of hard work. This is not just a notification; it’s a loud question mark on how our music is valued and how creatives are treated.”
The artist emphasised that while passion drives music creation, love alone should not replace fair compensation. Gadams called on GHAMRO to improve its royalty distribution processes and ensure musicians receive adequate remuneration for their work.
The post has sparked discussions among Ghanaian musicians and fans about transparency, fair pay, and the broader treatment of creatives in the local music industry.
