The Ministry of Health has announced plans to investigate allegations raised in an investigative report by media outlet The Fourth Estate on the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge.
In a press statement issued on 19 January 2026, the Ministry said it had taken note of the report, which has been widely circulated on social media, and described the issues raised as serious and deserving of careful scrutiny. The Ministry expressed sympathy for patients and relatives who may have experienced any form of unprofessional conduct at health facilities across the country.
Reaffirming government’s commitment to easing the stress and financial burden associated with accessing healthcare, the Ministry said it was nonetheless “deeply concerned and surprised” by some of the revelations contained in the report.
As a result, the Ministry is in the process of constituting an investigative committee to examine the allegations. The committee is expected to submit its findings within 14 working days, after which appropriate actions will be taken based on its recommendations.
The Ministry further called for the full cooperation of all relevant stakeholders, including The Fourth Estate, to help establish the facts and provide any additional information required to ensure accountability.
The statement stressed that the investigation forms part of broader efforts to strengthen oversight, improve service delivery and uphold professional standards within Ghana’s health system.
