The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a deadly robbery at Asonkore SSNIT Flats Down, a suburb of Obuasi.
The suspect, identified as Rahman Adams, also known as Wale, was apprehended on 18 January 2026 at Pomposo following an intelligence-led operation. His arrest is linked to a residential robbery on 12 December 2025, which resulted in the death of a 42-year-old miner.
Police investigations revealed that the armed assailants gained entry by cutting through a burglar-proof window, stealing cash totalling GH¢2,600, a laptop, and a vehicle ignition key. The miner was assaulted during the attack and later found dead by responding officers.
Preliminary police reports indicate that two other suspects, including an individual identified as A.T. and a Nigerian national, remain at large but are believed to have played central roles in the robbery and murder.
Recovered items from the crime scene include hammers, machetes, and cutters. The deceased’s body has been deposited at the Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
The suspect, currently in police custody, is assisting investigators, while law enforcement continues efforts to track down the remaining accomplices to ensure they face justice.
