The Tema Regional Police Command, through the Ashaiman Police, has arrested one Bright Atsu Kudiabor, 32, for allegedly posing as a soldier and extorting money from persons within Ashaiman.
According to the Police, the suspect, an ex-convict, was arrested on Wednesday, September 16, at about 7:00 a.m. after he was found at an area known as “I Shall Return,” where he was allegedly parading himself as a soldier and extorting money from unsuspecting victims.
The Police said the suspect was initially arrested by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service in Ashaiman, with assistance from other persons, before being handed over to the Police.
A search conducted on him led to the recovery of a set of military camouflage uniform.
The suspect is currently in Police custody assisting with investigations and will be processed for court upon completion of investigations.
The Tema Regional Police Command has cautioned the public to be vigilant and to report persons who falsely present themselves as soldiers or members of other security agencies to deceive or extort money from them.
