The widow of the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East Constituency has declared her intention to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries on Saturday, February 7.
In a press release dated Thursday, January 22, 2026, Hajia Amina Adam says though the times are difficult for her due to the sudden demise of the MP, Mahama Naser Toure, she cannot but listen to “the wise counsel” of the people.
“There has been a clarion call from many quarters in my constituency and beyond to step into the shoes of my late husband who served the East Ayawaso Constituency with distinction.
“I have pondered over the calls from well-meaning members of the constituency, especially the elders and grassroots and in so doing I accept the call to serve my people.”
She stressed that the call is “to lead and serve”.
“I believe that the community that has held the hands of my late husband including past leaders will continue to support our next leaders, more so when the calls are coming from the PEOPLE.”
Hajia Amina Adam promised not to disappoint the people as she hopes to continue a journey started by her late husband.
Mahama Naser Toure died on Sunday, January 4 after a short illness.
