The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced that an investigation has been launched into the alleged assault by some officers on a journalist in Walewale in the North East Region.
There were reports that Media General’s North East Region correspondent Solomon Kwame Kanawule was assaulted by officers conducting a special operation in Walewale.
“The incident was reported to have occurred at the outskirts of Walewale, in the North East Region where in recent times there have been reported incidents of attacks on public transport resulting in deaths and injuries,” a press releases issued on Wednesday, January 28 said.
The Armed Forces used the opportunity to alert the public that the security situation in the North East and Upper East regions has resulted in heightened levels of insecurity.
This, the press release signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, the Acting Director General of Public Relations, said, “will occasionally necessitate the conduct of military operations without notice”.
“The general public is hereby informed to cooperate with the Ghana Armed Forces and other security agencies.”
