North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced the award of 61 full tertiary scholarships to constituents pursuing studies in science and agriculture, marking a significant boost to educational support in the constituency.

At the event, Jan. 31, 2026, Ablakwa said the performance-based scholarships will cover the full duration of each recipient’s programme until graduation. The latest awards bring the total number of scholarships granted in the constituency to 250 over the past six months.

He credited the scheme to a partnership with Italian institutions, describing it as an example of effective international cooperation focused on education and skills development. The Italian delegation at the award ceremony was led by Italy’s Ambassador to Ghana, Laura Ranalli, and included representatives from CIHEAM Bari, Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), and BF.

BF, an Italian agribusiness operating in North Tongu, has created hundreds of local jobs and is supporting community development initiatives.

Ablakwa hailed the initiative as a “beautiful Ghana–Italy partnership” with lasting benefits for youth and local development.
