The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is going to the polls today, Saturday, February 7, to elect its candidate for the upcoming by-election in the Ayawaso East Constituency.
About 1,047 delegates are expected to take part in the parliamentary primaries, scheduled to take place at the Nima Cluster of Schools.
Five aspirants including the widow of the late Member of Parliament, Alhaji Mahama Nasser Toure, are contesting to take up the slot.
Alhaji Mahama Nasser Toure died on Sunday, January 4, occasioning the by-election in the constituency.
Other aspirants in the race aside Hajia Amina Adams are Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Alhaji Baba Jamal, who lost the 2023 primaries to the deceased MP, Dr Yakubu Azindow, who also contested the last primaries, Mohammed Ramne, the current party chairman of the constituency, and Najib Mohammed Sani.
The winner will face New Patriotic Party’s Baba Ali, a candidate by consensus, and others for the Tuesday, March 3 by-elections.
