The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the release of outstanding funds earmarked for the procurement of perishable food items for Senior High and Technical Schools across the country.
In a statement issued on Monday, April 20 and signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the Service indicated processes have been initiated to ensure the efficient distribution of the funds to the various schools.
“Management of the Ghana Education Service wishes to inform the general public, particularly stakeholders in the education sector, that the outstanding funds for the procurement of perishable food items for Senior High/Technical Schools across the country have been released to the Service,” the statement read in part.
The GES further assured that monitoring and accountability mechanisms had been put in place to ensure that the funds were utilised judiciously and solely for their intended purpose, allaying concerns about possible misapplication of the released monies.
Management of the Service also reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of students and the continuous improvement of educational outcomes across the country.
The release of the funds is expected to bring relief to Senior High and Technical Schools that had been grappling with shortfalls in the supply of perishable food items for their students.
