Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
After getting the greenlight from the King to form his government, Andy Burnham headed to Downing Street where he delivered his first speech.
He becomes the 59th UK Prime Minister.
Not using a traditional lectern, Burnham promised to re-industrialise Britain and, starting from Tuesday, gove more people “breathing space”.
“The care of people will be at the heart of everything I will do,” he said, adding: “I will give this my all” to “build a new national sense of unity”.
He has already spoken to United States President Donald Trump and promised, as well, to speak to Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
He has already been congratulated by some international leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron.
He has already begun work by naming his cabinet.
Ed Miliband has been appointed Foreign Secretary while John Healy is the Chancellor of the Ex-chequer.
Shabana Mahmood will remain the Home Secretary, so as Pat McFadden will stay in her role as Work and Pensions Secretary.
