The Ministry of Health has announced the immediate closure of Techiman KroboNursing Training College following two days of student protest.
“This decision has been taken following current unrest and breakdown of rules and regulations in the College,” the Ministry explained in an official press release on Wednesday, July 29.
“Despite several meetings, counselling, and appeals to stakeholders including the Regional Security Council, [and] the Ministry to encourage dialogue and restore order, some students have continued to engage in conduct that disrupts academic activities and threatens the peace, safety and orderly administration of the institution.”
According to the press release, the latest action is intended to restore calm, protect lives and property and allow appropriate authorities to assess the situation and determine the necessary steps toward reopening the College under conducive conditions.
The Ministry, as a result, has instructed all students to vacate the campus in their own interests, latest by 5:00pm Wednesday.
“Parents and guardians are advised to make the necessary arrangements for their wards.”
The Ministry assured that every effort will be put into ensuring that the situation is resolved promptly.
“Information regarding the reopening of the College will be communicated through official channels in due course.”
